Custom Carved — Hand Finished
With an atelier of woodworkers, gilders, artisans and fine framers, we create museum-quality custom picture frames for clients nationwide from our studio in Chicago.
We are one of the few remaining framers that still build, carve, lacquer, and gild historically inspired picture frames using traditional, centuries-old techniques.
This is a sampling from the vast selection of samples on view in our showroom that can each be further customized. From Old Master, Victorian, to Mid-Century or contemporary artwork from today, we can design and fabricate the right perfect frame for your masterpiece.
In addition to our vast selection of custom picture frame profiles, we provide a full suite of archival fine art framing services.

A Custom Shadowbox for an Antique Icon
This custom shadowbox frame was just fabricated to beautifully display and protect an antique Madonna and Child icon. The custom finished corner frame featured a veneered panel with 22k watergilded over red clay lip and outer edge. The frame was constructed with a two inch interior rabbet depth to accommodate the slight convex warp of the panel and the interior components of the frame. The gilded elements were lightly rubbed and abraded to give a sense of historic wear.
The icon is secured within four faux finished brackets and a hand wrapped recessed linen mount with matching linen spacers. The linen wrapped interior create the interior box effect. The faux finished brackets visually blend with the edges of the icon and are a reversible mounting method to safely secure the artifact.
A Frame and Mount for “Jaqueline at the Easel” by Pablo Picasso
This original glazed ceramic round dish titled, “Jacqueline at the Easel” by Pablo Picasso arrived to us with the request to safely display it vertically. It was previously display on a tabletop easel, however, that left it vulnerable to accidental damage. The piece is part of an edition of 200 and features Picasso’s second wfire, Jacqueline in front of an easel. We designed a custom shadowbox to display the piece upright on a wall. The shadowbox accommodates the depth and allows the three-dimensional artwork to be displayed with other two-dimensional masterpieces within the collection.
