This custom shadowbox frame was just fabricated to beautifully display and protect an antique Madonna and Child icon. Custom shadowboxes can be crafted to display individual objects or a collection of items.  Each project is individually designed and handmade. This museum quality frame both beautifully displays and protects the icon.

A decorative Italian technique that dates back to the Renaissance, our frames carry on that legacy. Custom gilded in authentic gold leaf and then hand painted. The painted panel is then scratched away in delicated patterns to reveal the gold layer underneath. Custom, finished corner frame designed and made to order.

Charles Prendergast was a renowned frame-maker at the turn of the century. This heirloom albumen print arrived at our studio for framing. We selected this 3/4″ width, Charles Prendergast-inspired frame. The two-tone 22k and 12k white gold leaf with inscribed flower blossoms at each corner provided visual interest without overwhelming the portrait. With the details of the floral design and the implementation of two different karats of gold leaf, this frame honors the vision of Prendergast by “bringing out the fine points of a good picture”.
