Our client had memories of sitting and spinning around in this stool during the holidays and wanted to make sure his children were able to as well.
Multiple attempts had been made to try to repair this heirloom piano stool before it arrived at our studio. There was wood glue, super glue and duct tape present on the areas of damage. Part of the joint in the column was missing. Two of the legs were detached. The base was cracked, and the seat no longer spun.
When we restore furniture, we keep in mind that it needs to be functional and safe to use.
We were able to carve and fill the losses at the joints, replaced the cracked panel and reassembled the stool. The lacquer was retouched, waxed and buffed.
Not only does the stool look great, it can now be used, and the seat also spins!
We were able to address the new damage along with the old repairs to ensure that the stool was safe to sit on and is now functional again. The stool has been returned to the family for future generations to enjoy. If you have an heirloom that needs attention, contact us to learn more about how we can assist you. [email protected]
